300 - HD vs. BD (sales)

Regular for me... already watching it for the second time today. I won't own BD or HD yet. Why support a possible dead format?
Because it's better, duh! You are going to turn into one of those old people that are scared of new technology someday hehe.
I got the HD DVD. Wow, the sound is amazing! -
how's 'bout some hard internet sales figures?
Wow, I mean, wow...over 250,000 total blu-ray and hd-dvd combined sales in just a week. HD media definitely showed it can move disks with this one...Spartaaaa!!!!!

Just another update...
27 HD
66 BD
164 Standard
And duksbak's ratio ended up being pretty accurate:

65:35 in favor of blu-ray. -
hd dvd's combo disc pricing sure didn't help in that respect, did it? i wish they would include the sd combo, yet price it the same as hd dvd only.

I've never been in favor of jacking up the price to include an SD version and making that the only available choice. Better to just let the consumer decide what version they want to buy. But at least the other major studios don't seem to be following warner on this... -
it's a love/hate relationship in that manner. cheddster, you ain't gettin' 'spiffs' from sony, r u?

My opinions are just that. Informed by my reading of what's being reported in the news. I know this is some battle of principle for you bizill, but it's just an interesting extension of my love of the hobby that brought us to this site in the first place for me...

So long as it's Blu-Ray, Sony, or PS3 related.

I don't limit my horizons. I do have a ps3, but unlike you, I already own both consoles. I actually bought the 360 first. And before that, I played halo almost every day on live on my xbox. Why do these discussions always have to turn into personal attacks... -
ever get on xbox live? i'd hate to hear you tell us all you hate 'LIVE' and prefer ps3's free internet capabilities over it.

Bizill, it seems all you're interested in is the personal attacks. You're not even reading my posts anymore before your next one. This is the point where I lose all interest in the discussion. Have fun with your arguments. I'm out...cheddar wrote:I don't limit my horizons. I do have a ps3, but unlike you, I already own both consoles. I actually bought the 360 first. Yes, I did. Unfortunately, my friends and I started having kids. We used to play on Monday nights. But most of us started to do the young daddy duty at night. When GRAW2 came out, I don't think any of us except the one guy without a kid tried to get on. But Live is much better at this point than the playstation network. We did have trouble trying to figure out how to hang as a group with gears, though. But if not for the daddy duty, we'd still be on. -
what is your screename on live? i'd love to add you to my list of persons to play against on opposing teams. all in fun, of course. unless your live account has already lapsed.
at least it would seem you have ample time for your beloved ps3...kudos.
...don't be surprised if you one day see me on ps3's network.
edit: not due to anyone's preachings/'teachings' either, rather through my own personal research.

To tell you the truth, I haven't even tried multiplayer on PSN. Just downloaded games and videos from the store. I was going to let my gamertag lapse, I use it so little. Mostly now for downloading stuff rather than late night frag fests...I hate sounding old, but a newborn brings a lot of changes...
Edit: But now that you've got me thinking about it, Halo 3 is just around the corner...loved the live matchmaking of halo 2...hmmm. -
Geat on Blu-Ray. -

If you have an HD display and a decent surround set up it really is worth shelling out the coin for the experience. Just Netflix the movies. Even if HD DVD goes belly up you will still have a very nice up converting DVD player.
The problem with that logic is I NEVER get HD movies delivered to me until the movie has been out for 2 months. Everytime the HD version is a short to long wait..
and I don't buy movies..80% of movies are crap and I have a hard enough time watching them once:DPioneer Elite VSX-53, Polk RT800i fronts, Polk CS400i center, FX500i surround, Velodyne sub
