I have thought about this for a while. I came up with several ideas. What I have decided is to name them Tributes. 2 reasons for this. They are giant twin towers like WTC(911, and ALL the people that lost their lives), and also I would like to give Polk, and a long list of engineers credit for THEIR design that was modified by me. I was going to have a naming contest. Please post your ideas if you feel inclined to do so. I am sticking to my decision.

Thanks for all your support through the many stages of this project. To me CP is like family. The tight members, the weird uncles, and their far out views, the bearded aunts, cousins that don't see eye to eye, and grandpa Jessie:D Thanks again; you guys brought me through a learning process that could not have been so thoroughly presented in a class. Polk is the best company I have ever dealt with bar none. This is the only forum I have spent any real time in, and with a biased close minded opinion the best that is out there.
Many thanks Ben
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks
Ben

Like I said I think the name will stick. I spent a lot of time doing this project between building, and research. I just have a lot of respect for the engineers on the team that designed them. Also they are so tall, and proportioned like the WTC that if you have seen them you would get goose bumps if someone said WTC's.

Maybe I could do an AKA for them?

How about calling them what they are: Frankenpolks.

Personally, I think that comparing a pair of bastardized SDA's and the World Trade Centers is in pretty poor taste.

I am going to geek out for a second. Here is the code enforcement laws for Citrus County Florida. This is where I found it.
    http://www.bocc.citrus.fl.us/pubsafety/code_enforcement/noise_ordinance.pdf

    Sec. 21-20. Prohibition.
It shall be a violation of this article for any person to
make, cause, or allow the making of any noise or sound
within the unincorporated area of Citrus County that
exceeds the noise levels as set forth in this article.

    Sec. 21-25. Noise exposure.
The lawful operation of any loudspeaker or other source of
sound in any place of public entertainment that exceeds
levels shown in Table IV at any point when normally
occupied by a customer shall require the placement of a
conspicuous and legible sign as follows: “WARNING. SOUND
LEVELS WITHIN MAY CAUSE PERMANENT HEARING IMPAIRMENT.”
    Table IV
Duration Per Day Continuous Hours Noise Level dB(A)
    8 hours 90
    6 hours 92
    4 hours 95
    3 hours 97
    2 hours 100
    1 ½ hours 102
    1 hour 105
    ½ hour 110
    ¼ hour 115

    So how about SDA-SRS.21-25

I have had you on ignore for months. I have been told about this post. All I have to say is get a life I have listened to your insults for too long. You must have a little dick. I choose the name tributes for my own personal reasons. I think 911 should not be forgotten. So Troy Why don't you try contributing in the forum instead of trying to knock my work. You have never heard these. So calling them "Bastardized SDA's is pretty weak. GFYS!

I don't understand where he is coming from. I don't fallow him around , and give him a hard time. I spent a lot of time working on them, and he has to insult something (bastardized SDA's) he has never heard. Mind blowing. I don't mind constructive criticism, it is actually helpful, but all out insults are just lame.

Ben, you keep on with what you are doing. Because if it wasn't for people like you, we would still be listening to paper cone full range to this day. You have taken a wonderful technology and given it a different perspective. Do not listen to the nay-sayers, the spec readers or the lemmings. You may just be on the cusp of the next level of "true" sound reproduction. I applaud your drive.

By virtue of what I do, where I have been and where I'm going...I've more than earned my right to have an opinion on 9/11.

Lastly, I applaud the effort however I see a big pair of monkey coffins. Polk spent YEARS refining SDA. Do I think that someone can homebrew that and improve it? Probably not.

I don't think it is much different that upgrading a x-over on the SDA. No one is calling that "bastardizing the x-over".

But Slo, you're still using Polks design in the upgrade. You're not changing the slopes or the frequencies, just upgrading the parts. That's far different from what Ben has done.

Look at it this way: If I took a Corvette Z06 and upgraded some of the engine parts wouldn't result in a bastardized Corvette.

However, if you started from scratch and used no (or very few) parts in common to the Z06 and made a car look like the Vette and then tried to call it a Vette, I would say you have a bastardized Vette.

I would also care to say that the homemade Vette is very unlikely to outperform the manufacturers one on a race track.

That's the point Troy was trying to make. I think it's awesome that Ben tried this, but it falls into the group of people trading out their PR's for active drivers on the SDA's. They are "frankenpolks" but that's not neccesarily a bad thing.

If Polk was so aghast at what Ben was trying to do why did they offer so much support. If they don't feel he was bastardizing the beloved SDA keep your rude comments off the board. Frankenpolks is ok. Talking down to someone is rude. You may have the right, but that dosen't make it right!

No one said Polk had an issue with what Ben did but claiming these are SDA's is factually incorrect. BTW, who decides what names are ok? Frankenpolks is OK but Bastardized SDA's isn't? How about cloned SDA's? Where's the list of what's ok and what's not?

To me, Frankenpolks is less correct as it is usually applied to polk speakers with non-standardize setup. The key being, they originated from the original speaker. Bastardized SDA's is "technically" more correct and these have no real roots in the Polk SDA series and are their own thing entirely. In the end, isn't it up to Ben?

What I was referring to when stating that Frankenpolk is ok, is that Troy is not being offensive or degrading. However when using the term Bastardized that is offensive! You are correct it is up to Ben. He did ask for suggestions of names. Not derogatory remarks!
