Boat improvement, mmc speakers, new amp, and some basic questions

Some background:
Boat is a 21 foot SeaRay bowrider. Head unit is Clarion M255, which I plan to keep. It's a pretty basic CD Player/Radio with one set of pre-amp outs and a pretty low 17 Watt RMS/Channel, which is why I'm adding an AMP. I ordered a Clarion 4 channel Amp, 80 Watts RMS/channel and a pair of Polk MMC525s and a pair of MMC650s to replace my current Clarion Speakers. I may add another pair of MMC525 speakers later to the bow area of the boat, which currently has no speakers. I'm trying to get a good system within a reasonable budget, although I don't really know what I'm doing.
Questions:
1. The speakers come with a by-passable crossover, which is above my head. I've researched it and I'm having a hard time getting it. Will these be useful to me, or only beneficial if I added a subwoofer, which is not really in my plans.
2. If I add another pair of speakers, what is the best way to power 6 speakers from a 4 channel Amp? Would I just run a pair of speakers for each of two channels in series or parallel? Will that result in two speakers that are much louder than the other four (in series/parallel)? Any advice/tips?
