I have two Carver TFM 6cbs that could be run in bridged mode to deliver 200wpc to 8 ohms. They are a little older but still work well and would fall in your budget. Not 100% sure I'm selling, but have thought about it.
Check out Audiogon. Most sellers with feedback there are very reputable, in my opinion. Don't go ebay unless you find a killer deal. Lot of bad sellers there, obviously.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

If I were you, I would keep checking the FS section of this forum (although you can't buy until you have 25 good posts), check Audiogon.com (you can search locally using the first 2 digits of your zip), and check the local Craiglist.
$200 - $300 can get you a pretty good stereo amp. I would look at B&K, Rotel, NAD, Carver, Adcom, etc. B&K ST-202, 2140, ST-140, can all be had in that range. Not the newest amps, but very solid performers. Tons of Adcom stuff in that range as well.
Good luck! Happy hunting. . .Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

yea i've been keeping my eye on audiogon pretty much non-stop for the last 2 weeks. i've heard some negative things about NAD though, do you know anything more about them? supposedly their equipment is powerful, but poorly made and is prone to problems. My 2 ch. rig

I've gone through some NAD gear in the last couple years. Haven't experienced any issues worth noting.
I think they are solid pieces and under-rated power wise.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
