I'm considering purchasing a pair of Monitor 10's from Ebay. Do these speakers sound good and are they worth 175.00? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Do a search here on them. You'll find loads of stuff.

Everyone seems to have a high opinion of the 10's.

Not sure. Do a Google search on them & it'll take you to a page that will tell you how much they've sold for lately. I'd maybe offer $150, but if they're in great shape, maybe I'd spring for them.

Hope other guys here comment as most know more than I.

    Good luck.

$175 + shipping is going to get expensive real fast.

The monitor 10's are one of my favorite Polk speakers ever. Plenty of power. Deep bass. Wide sound-stage. Sweet midrange.

If they come with the tilt-stands, they are worth every penny of $175. If not, offer them less because you'll have to get the tilt stands for proper projection.

In very good shape and local pickup yes. Shipping destroys Older polk's. Magnets get broken off of drivers with a hard drop. Yes nice speakers for sure.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

I can recommend first hand keeping an eye out for local pickup for a pair via Ebay, Craigslist, or garage sales. I have found my 3 pairs of Polks that way. I don't even want to mention (again) what I paid for my Monitor 10B's...but it was WAAAYYY less than $175. I think it was a guys ex-wife wanting to sell off his stuff! Not that they aren't worth that but I would hate to take a chance shipping them.

There's a pair right now on Phoenix CL for 25 bucks.

BTW, I like mine a lot. I bought them new in 85, and haven't found a good reason to part with them.

2 posts since August 2006....does make me feel like a post addict. I have had 10Bs since 1983 and love them. I've also owned two other pairs. A pair in good shape is worth $150-200 in my opnion, but shipping is to be avoided. I use them as fronts in a surround system and they carry the bass load just fine for my tastes. A lot of clarity in mids.
