If you had a chance to put in all new HT wire...
I have the opportunity to wire an 18' X 19' room for HT with the drywall off. My main question is whether to use 12gauge or 14gauge wire for the speakers. See my sig for equipment being used. I currently use a 5.1 setup. Would I be short-sighted for not running a second set of rear cables and leaving them in the wall in the slight chance I'd upgrade to 7.1 down the road?

You're exactly where I was a couple months ago with the drywall off and trying to make a decision about wire. I ended up going with 12gauge from bluejeans and went ahead and pulled wires for 7.1 while I was there just in case. Might as well while since the wire isn't that expensive and much easier with no walls. I know I'd kick myself the first time I heard a killer 7.1 .AVR: Pioneer VSX-84TXSi (RIP - lightening) / Amp: Sunfire Cinema Grand / Klipsh R-10B Sounbar, LC65fx / Sub: Elemental Designs LT/1300 / TV: Panasonic TH-50PH9UK /SIZE]

I would run 10ga just because.
I would also wire it for easy speaker relocation and possible 7.1 upgrade.Skynut
