Just ran into this info this morning. I hadn't run into any posts or discussions regarding this new line, the VM Series.

It'll be interesting to read & hear more about these. This is the first I've heard.

Interesting as these are the first Polks post merger.

I'm not sure I'm too terribly impressed.

YAHTS indeed. It would seem the trend in the industry is the larger companies are all going HT gimmicky... and leaving the serious music listening speakers to the smaller manufacturers, and of course, the used market that is booming.

these were probably in development long before the merger was even announced. R&D takes years before it hits the consumer market

If they are the next lineage of the RM series, the they should be very nice. When I read the description stating they were aluminium eclosures, I assumed that is what they were. The only problem I ever had with the RM series is that I thought they were a little overpriced.

To my knowledge, I don't recall Polk ever putting out a speaker that wasn't competetive within it's pricepoint.

Why the hell would they start now?

While it may not be what I want to buy, that doesn't mean it sucks.

Having never heard one, it's hard to accurately comment. However, from experience with speakers, it looks like this is just an elongated bookshelf speaker. I would have reservations about the amount of accurate bass output these have. I'm not downing the speaker, don't get me wrong because as I said, I've never heard it.

Then again, it is a HT speaker and for what it is designed to do.................
