Spielberg supports blu-ray?

I wonder if spielberg really is at odds with universal over releasing his movies in the HD-DVD format? I thought it was odd that universal wouldn't release some of its catalog jewels like jurassic park. Does a filmaker really have veto power over a title that is owned by a studio? I guess universal would go to great lengths not to sour the relationship with someone like spielberg...
