PSW404 LFE connection

Hi all,
I am new to hi-fi.
I just got my PSW404 sub to complement my RTi4s (front) and also a new CSi3.
The tech guy at the store suggested I connect the sub cable from the Pre-out of the Amp (Denon 1707) to the Right LFE (filtered) IN on the sub - the ?phase on the sub is turned to 160. I could not find anything on the manual on this type of connection.
Will connecting it to the unfiltered LFE input give me better bass? I don't have enough cable to try any one of the "Polk methods" mentioned in the manual.
Please help.

The unfiltered LFE input allows you the select the frequency crossover thru your Denon. Use your pre sub out to the unfiltered LFE inputengtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -

Thanks engtaz,
Done. I connected it to the unfiltered input now and can control the crossovers from the Denon.
Now, forgive my newbie question, but I see two settings I am not sure of at the back of the sub.
1) A switch that says 0 and 180 (? degrees).
2) Low Pass knob going from 60-90-125 (I think)..
What are these for?
Thanks!Onkyo 727| Polk RTi A5 biamped| Polk RTi4s surrounds| Polk CSi3 center| subwoofer PSW404 -
Try the cross over on the Denon @ 80,100, and 120 hz. see what sound good to you with music and with movies (remember FM beefs up base). On the subthe dials don't do anything when you go thru unfiltered LFE input.engtaz

Thanks engtaz. I get the idea now. Also, I felt the bass sounded better the unfiltered way! :-)Onkyo 727| Polk RTi A5 biamped| Polk RTi4s surrounds| Polk CSi3 center| subwoofer PSW404
