    DC is much more dangerious than AC.

    I think only 40 volts DC can kill you. You don't see 40 volt batteries selling anywhere do you?

    We have all been hit with 120 volts AC and made it.

    Edison was wrong. Maybe is was a politician trying to change science facts.

    Damn if thats true I'm DEAD.... Phone voltage is about 52vdc and I can touch that. T1 voltage is about 130vdc that hurts a little. Voltage doesn't kill you the current does, of cause more voltage is more Current, more current you feel more dead... well until you are dead. :eek:

    I thought they were both dangerous for there own reasons.

    AC can cause your heart to lose coordination and stop while DC can cause your muscles to lock and you would be unable to stop grasping whatever was giving you the shock.

    The real guy behind AC was Tesla. He worked for Edison for a short period of
    time, but had a falling out due to the DC VS. AC. Edison was a bit of a control freak,
    and also tried to control the development of movies.
    He did some good groundwork, and then killed all forward progress.
    Fortunately, others took the ball and ran with it.

    Tesla was the smart guy, Westinghouse was the mover and shaker.
    Those two had a falling out when Tesla started working on wireless(free)
    electric delivery. Westinghouse the capitalist was appalled. Tesla was
    so weird that he was the perfect model for the "mad sciencetist" in
    comic books. I don't think he killed any cats ,though!

    No 48vdc charge to 52.08vdc or 2.17 volts per cell, yes per cell Phone office run off of batteries that are charged by AC. Large batteries lots of AMPS, I take a pix but I'm not allowed. But back out a voltage meter and read your phone line Tip to Ring you'll not get 24vcd.

    That explains a lot. I do power plant, battery, and eq installs outside of the CO for Qwest, (I hate writing mopps so I stay out of CO's) and You were throwing out to much info for a mere mortal.;)

    I could understand knowing 48vdc, but when you were talking about float voltage, that gave you away. You missed a little on the charging procedure, unless maybe you were simpifying the whole deal, which I can understand.
    My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

    The video mentioned George Westinghouse in regards to the promotion of AC, but it did neglect to mention Nikolai Tesla.

    I've said before that Nikolai Tesla was God, but I was wrong.
    After checking further, I've found out that Tesla applied for the positon of God but was found to be overqualified.

    The dude was awesome. :)

    Well .... some historians consider him the greatest inventor since Leonardo da Vinci, if not in history. Three of the Top 10 greatest inventions of the last century are his or directly based on his discoveries. The father of electricity, inventor of the radio, and the guy whose discoveries led to computers and robotics.

    Other than that, he didn't do too much.

    All the "enterprise" stuff is dolphin grey!

    Tesla was a strange guy on his best day. That's why they are all to do about Edison , and largely ignore Tesla.
