I've been looking for a tube preamp and have been given alot of good ideas on here and just wanted to pick your brains about this
Rogue audio 66 Magnum Tube Pre w phono stage. I heard a neighbours setup with this pre and liked the sound and I've noticed alot of them used for sale and sometimes thats not a good sign.
I've found alot of them between 6-800 bucks. that seems like a very good price

I've heard the Metis(sp?) and its solid. I've read some complaints about the RA Magnum series and such but never found anyone in reality with the same issues.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Had a Magnum 66 w/ remote (instead of phono) - wish I had not sold it. Super solid gear.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

And I am glad that Russman sold me his Rogue 66 pre It mates very well with my Magnepan speakers. I've tried some more expensive pre's and the Rogue holds up very well. I'll change a lot of things before the Rogue pre leaves the system.DKG999

I have a Rogue 66 Magnum-phono...Have had 0 issues,and it sounds swwwweeeeeet.
Thinking of selling it to buy a 66 with remote, simply cause I don't get any use out of the phono section...and I want a Black faceplate...mines Silver.
I don't think you can go wrong. -

There ya go. Not to bad either that since the sale, the market value has risen about 20%.

I have a RA Metis. Absolutely awesome. Best thing I ever did for my system thus far. If you have a problem with the background hiss on the 66, just pop a pair of Rothwell Attenuators between the pre and amp. The hiss may or may not be an issue depending on the sensitivity of your speakers. I've heard the Magnum 66 and 99, you'd be hard press to find a preamp that throws a better soundstage. If there's one thing RA know how to do, it's producing wide, enthralling, engulfing soundstages.
