    Hi,

That most likely won't happen. The wife and I picked these sturdy wooden A/V furniture out and it fits the decor. There is a second one to the left that you can't see in this picture. It's the same unit as this, but standing horizontally with our SXRD TV, RTI12 center and other components.

    Good suggestion though!

The funny thing is the warmest component out of all of them is the DA777ES.

I'm not even using the internal amplification and it still gets warmer then the three outboard amps.

I even have the rear 4/8 ohm switch set to 4 ohms, which lowers the power supply rail voltage to no avail.

Not a big deal as that unit has always been hot blooded, but pretty funny considering the TA-N's don't break a sweat and the DA777ES amps are based on this technology.

    hahah,

You guys would die if I told you what I paid for the three of those.

They are in brand new condition, had the recalls done, came with original box and papers.

    I love Internet deals!

TA-N9000 #1 on top is set in BTL two channel bridge mode running the bottom half of my RTI12 fronts
TA-N9000 #2 Bottom stack is BTL+1 running top half of RTI12 fronts and top half of RTI12 center
TA-N9000 #3 Bottom stack is BTL+1 running both FXI5's (rear) and the bottom half of RTI12 center

All of my RTI12's are bi-amped

I used to have Sony ES separates for YEARS ( Still have a ES 5 disc changer... C87ES ) and after seeing you got some awesome deals on these amps post recall modded I did a search to see if I could pick one up cheap :) I found a couple of disturbing write ups on the amp ( Hopefully POST recall addresses this ? )

Some more information on these from you would be greatly appreciated. Here is some that I saw.....

" The first two samples failed with power supply problems. One literally exploded (the biggest bang HCC has ever heard in it's lab) as the volume was pushed. The second gave gross distortion. Sadly, this third sample - typical of one you might buy in the shops - also suffered similar traits under certain conditions.

Our final lab test is to run every amplifier into dead short and open circuit loads. We short-circuit the speaker leads to simulate the type of accident that could occur in any home. An amplifier worth its salt should recover gracefully thanks to onboard protection. Sadly not this Sony.

" Sony eventually confirmed that the transistor in the protection circuit was damaged by excess current generated by the HCC lab. This was because the resistor, which determines the amount of current flowing into the circuit, was inadequately soldered and in effect was short circuited. As a result, when the short circuit was detected, the abnormal current by-passed the resistor, affecting the protection circuit transistor and damaging the output stage. "

    Oh...and price if you could....

    Hi,

    sorry for the late reply.

All of these TA-N9000ES units I have are all post recall serviced.

I got each one for under $500, so around a $1500 investment for some really tight, punchy amps that are pretty transparent. They sound NIGHT AND DAY better than the Soundcraftsmen's I was using previously.

These TA-N's originally sold for $1800 a piece.

These units went out of production I believe in early 2000-2001.

I run three of them in BTL mode and I BIAMP my front sound stage which is all RTI12. Needless to say it is very impressive.

The system is driven by the legendary Sony STR-DA777ES.

Right now I am listening to The Bee Gees "Nights on Broadway" in "Analog Direct" mode and man it sounds so damn good.

    XJRGUY

P.S. Shadow of Night those units were prepreduction units that were tested.

    Danger Boy,

I posted the prices in my last post.

These amps are VERY CLASSY looking and perform to boot. They are not current models but were TOP OF THE HEAP of Sony ES separate gear back in the late 90's early 2000's.

No meters, no junk on the front, just some understated operation LED's and one circular twist knob for operation of the amp.

They have a nice warm up mode too and BEEFY binding posts. I leave them on 24/7 with no issues at all.

Each one is about 52 lbs if I remember correctly.

They run pretty cool too which is nice.

    Ebay and Audiogon

They were MINT condition, no dust, no scratches, no broken anything.

    I was very lucky

I'm debating moving from the STR-DA777ES to a "newer" STR-DA7ES but really not convinced the DA7ES is going to be any better.
