Decibel rating and it depends on the speaker's characteristic's and efficiency.

It's not better either way it just is what it is. It does let you know that the lower the efficiency the more your amp will have to work for a given volume level.
    AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH
    Amplifier: B&K 7250 Series ii
    Misc: Velodyne SMS-1
    Mains: RTi-10
    Center: CSi-5
    Rear: Boston DSi460
    Sub: SVS PC-Ultra
    TV: Panasonic TC-P58V10
    DVD: Panasonic DMP-BD60K

The higher the DB the less the amp has to work to put out more.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I am not sure he means speaker sensitivity/effeciency.

Are you referring to the rating you see that says -3db? If so the lower the Hz the better and the higher the Khz the better. This number defines where the speaker rolls off as far as frequencies.

If you do mean speaker sensitivity you will see a rating something like 89db 1khz @ 1m, in this case the higher numbers means the speaker will play louder with a given amount of power than a speaker with a lower rating.

The sensitivity rating has nothing to do with the quality of the sound the speaker will put out. Just how much power you will need to drive it.
