Hey polkies, haven't posted here in forever but I have always gotten great advice from these forums so maybe you can help me out. I just bought a Samsung HPT5054 50" plasma and I love it, the picture is great. It has DVD and HDTV running through my Yamaha reciever with component cables. I just had a question about my picture being off center. Basically with anything in widescreen you can't even notice, but when an HD channel or other channel/source has black bars on the side I have anywhere from a centimeter to an inch extra of space on my left side as opposed to my right side. So my alignment seems to be about a half inch to an inch off center to the right.
I called Samsung to see if I can adjust this and they said no. I exchanged the TV for the same model and got the same result. It get the same result with all sources, DVD, HDTV, PS2. Could this be adjusted? Is it a flaw? Does it have anything to do with the 'pixel shift' being on to reduce burn-in. Could it be something my reciever is doing to the video signal? (Coinicidentally my last CRT TV seemed to cut off images slightly on the right side.)
It is a minor detail, but me being a perfectionist I drive myself crazy if I sit there and watch and focus on it. But if it within the range of normal then I can live with it considering I got the TV at a pretty reasonable price. Has anyone else experienced this? Any input from you guys would be much appreciated.

Stopher, I never have a Samsung, so can't really help you with a direct experience. However, I had my RPTV ISF Calibrated recently. The folks who did it was David Abrams of www.avical.com
They've done many Samsung plasmas, and others. Give Dave a call and perhaps he can assist you over the phone. His business partner, Eliab, specializes in Samsung. Check his threads over at avsforum.com and might get your answer from him. hope it helps.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
My 50" Samsung plasma dose the same thing but its when I use the zoom 1 function but mine leaves a 1" black strip at the bottom of the panel. So I called Smasung last week and they was supposed to send out a tech guy.
