polk says that their SR subs preform best in small sealed enclosures but ive heard polks 2005 gmc truck "Five SR124DVC's are in a huge box- five seperate chambers, about 2.3 cu. ft. each, and tuned to 29 Hz. " and it sounds great. so whats the best setup?

Yeah, go sealed.
Ported boxes can be made to sound as good as a sealed but with more output BUT you have to have it tuned just right not to mention designed and built just right.
Sealed boxes sound great and are 100 times easier to get right and generally, theyll sound better than a ported box.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
