I appreciate all the help and input. I have finally taking the plunge and may disappoint some of you guys but had to do it.

The 300ZX TT project final install set-up is as follows.

Head Unit: Eclipse CD7100
Components: Hertz Millie MLK 2
Subwoofer: Hertz Millie ML3000
Amplifier: Audison LRx 5.1K

This amp is amazing the specs are:
60W x 2 (4Ω) + 140W x 2 (4Ω) + 750 (4Ω)
50W x 2 (4Ω) + 160W x 2 (4Ω) + 1150 (2Ω)
50W x 2 (4Ω) + 250W x 2 (2Ω) + 1030 (2Ω)

This allows me to save a lot of space by using one amp instead of two or three of my art series amps. So now I can keep the system installed in my truck.

But don't be too mad I will be putting a set of SR's in to replace the front stage of my truck. It is set up as a 3-way system now if I can fit the 5.25s in the kick panels I will keep it that way if not might change it to a 2-way set up.

I will post some pictures when completed.

If anyone has any EQ opinions please advice. The one in the CD7100 may not be enough.

Thanks,
Tim

It depends on how much you want to spend.

If you can afford $800, there is no better EQ than the Alpine H701

Is there a straight EQ solution. I will already have two sets of x-overs in the radio and the amp. The Audison x-overs I heard are real good.

Nice setup Tim.....I remember we talked a little while back. To start off, the CD7100 will give you 11 PEQ bands. If that is not enough Arc has a nice stereo unit.

My only concern with the H700 is not having a digital connection to it. I've read several threads where people complained of a high noise floor when not using the optical connection. Mac could probably comment a little more on this.

If youre able to keep your gains down, using RCAs to the input of the H701 is usually not a problem. Theres been a couple of people that I know of that still had problems, but most of the time, as long as your gains are about a quarter or less, you wont have a problem.

That was one of the things mentioned, but some people even when the gains were properly adjusted still had issues.

I will wait to see how the eclipse works out. I kind of want to try and minimize the amout of componets used if possible.

I would have gotten the Clarion DRZ9255, but wanted to have sat radio. Eclipse will be coming up with the XM module soon so I will wait till then. XM has better Jazz stations.

I have looked up the MEQ-30 looks like a nice piece. How does it compare to the audio control PEQ?

I think both companies make nice units....with the Audio Control units you will probably get more flexibility as some have more than just 2 inputs/outputs.

That is the unit that I am considering. If it does not work like I am expecting that would be my next purchase. I may even be willing to trade an amp for one.
