i have a pair of sda-srs that i am trying to gauge the value of. They are in excellent working condition...no physical blemishes. The wiring has not been upgraded though...& all the speakers are original. What are sda's worth in good condition?
& please take it easy on me. I'm not a speaker guy....I only came here to find out what they are worth. They belonged to my father. I was never allowed to touch these things when i was growing up...part of me wants to sell them..part of me wants to hang on to them & actually hook them up to a decent stereo.
oh & sorry if this is the wrong forum.

Geographic region will play a role in what you can get for them on the open market. Since these are huge they present a shipping issue. To ship correctly they will cost a lot. I'd suggest using a freight service which isn't cheap. Local is always the best option which then brings us back to location.
On the open market I'd say expect anywhere from about $1K-1800 depending on the above factors. As a general rule if you were to sell them here on the forum (and I can see that coming already) we tend to pass good deals between established members so if they were to sell here I'd say $900-1100 is reasonable.
Have you even given them a listen. They are fantastic speakers that would be hard to beat even today. My vote would be to hang onto them because you'll need to spend $5000+ to get something that sounds as nice and even then you won't get that SDA quality.
Do you have the "umbilical" cord that connects between to 2 speakers? That's needed for them to play the SDA drivers which is what makes these speakers so unique.

i'm not sure if i have the chord that connects them...i would imagine that i do & it's just a matter of finding it. I'm in MN. I have considered keeping them...but i will have to give myself an education in stereo equipment before i hook these up.

& thank you!

Please give them a shot before you sell. They are great speakers and if you have the room for them, you will never have to buy new speakers.

I personally would keep them for the time being if you have room for them. Stick around on the forum and pickup some tips on the audio gear available that will drive these speakers properly. Buy some good used pieces, cd,preamp, amp and give them a try. I think you will understand why your father kept them all these years. There was a reason. Good luck.>

Good idea..........you have an outstanding speaker which is a great start to a fine audio set-up. Be patient and you will be rewarded.

Not sure what the "rule" is for responding to a WTB post. I suppose it's alright, but still a little suspect."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. nothing to be suspect about. I had one friend go as far as to bring his 1.2TL's over and hook them up to my rig and he was blown away by the difference in sound from his setup.
I had another deal where the owner decided to keep them. I even made an offer on a pair of beatiful black 3.1TL's on the forum and he convinced his wife to keep them
Obviously these speakers are very special and there owners find it very hard to part with them. there is not much out there thats going to beat them at any price range. They seem to do every thing well and it really does sound like a live performance. I probably convinced The owner of the SRS's to keep them instead of selling them to me.

This is a pretty closely knit community and my point is too many 1st time posters come here with the only intention of hawking goods. In the past some of our memebers have been burned. So when I say "suspect" that's what I meant. If you had been here awhile and participated you probably would have had a better idea of what I meant initially.
