Apparently the tweeter in one of my Monitor 5 Series 2 speakers has decided to stop working. The part number on the back of the tweeter says it is an SL-2500. Anybody have a working one that they'd be willing to part with?

Check the tweeter with a multi meter first, and then decide if you need a new tweeter. Polk has very nice silk dome replacements for your speakers. Call customer service. They can hook you up with new speakers.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I swapped the tweeters between the working and non-working speaker and the problem (no sound out of the one tweeter) followed the tweeter to the other speaker. So, I figure it has got to be the tweeter.

Thanks, I'll do that in a few days unless someone here ends up having a spare SL2500 for sale.

BTW, is it ok "balance-wise" to just replace the one speaker's SL2500 with one of the RDOs? Or do I absolutely need to replace the SL2500s on both?

    Thanks!

I replace both RDO's are must smoother then the 2500 and 2000. Much better on the ears. Replace both.

I have a pair of Monitor 5s, series 2 with sl2500, I could sell you one
for $200. Does anyone know if the RDO is a drop in for the 2500?

The new RDO's sound much better than the SL2500's. Replace both for $96 shipped to your door and don't look back.

Thanks for the offer, Neil, but I don't need to replace the entire speaker, just the tweeter. And from what folks here are saying, I could replace the tweeter on both for half of what you want for a full speaker.

Now, if someone is willing to sell me a working SL2500 for $25 or less, then I'd be interested...
