I have an older pair of Monitor 12's and it seems the ferro fluid in the tweeters has dried and is not letting the voice coil move in and out... Since i bought them, I have heard a slight ratte in both, but never really though about it, but now they won't produce sound. Now i did test the coils for continity and both are fine, nothing else looks burnt or damaged, but it looks as though, the fluid has dried out and is causing them not to move? I have tried various solvent (nothing caustic) and nothing will touch this hard crusty stuff...
Any help is great

I'm new around here, but I'll throw in my two cents anyhow. Sounds to me like it's time for a new set of tweeters bud. Or you could go with plan B, and just send those old M12's to me.:)
