Where to mount MM6 tweeters? Dash, or....?

Howdy,
I'm looking at my install options in my '99 Passat, and I've got two options. The stock locations, which are on the inside of the sideview mirror mounts, or in the vents on the dash corners facing up. While the stock speakers definitely sound nice soundstage wise, I was wondering if there are any "principles" of tweeter installation that would specify one location over the other for sound quality.
Here are some pics of similar cars with installs:
Here's the stock locations:
Here's the converted dash vents:

What sounds best? I like the stock location in the pillar post.

if you face those little guys straight up (in my opinion) you'll lose a bit of the imaging / clarity / upfrontness of the tweeter... it'll bounce off the front glass before the sound gets to you.
the side door mirror pillar thing looks nice -- i like it a lot, it would give you a really nice look as well as a nice sound.
also... if it turns out to be too difficult to get the tweet into the stock location, you could use the pods to mount on the dash but right up against that mirror pillar thing and facing forward and up. i did a subaru like that -- where the tweet is about an arm's length from the driver and firing at a 45 degree angle toward the center of the car and up. nicest imaging i've heard in a long time. The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -
