I have a chance to buy a refurbished HK 3480 from ebay for $178 (plus $22 shipping). Can't decide if I should just wait and bid on another one. I know there are a few 3480 owners here, so just wanted to know if you think this is a good price.

Thanks.

I own one - it is a damn fine receiver. You can get a better price, particularly on the weekends. Search e-bay and see the going rates. You can't go wrong.

I used a bid sniping program (i.e., www.esnipe.com, but there are others) and entered my max bid on several HK3380's as a group. A group bid will keep bidding on items in a group until you are the high bidder, and then stop bidding on the later items.

I thought eBay was going to set up a similar feature, but I could not find it in there Help files.

I have been very happy with my HK3380 which I got for $117.

I got a new 3480 off the 'Gon for $180 shipped. At that price, it really is a no-brainer. It's been serving me quite well as an interim pre. Plus the phono section is icing on the cake.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Thanks guys. Everybody who owns that peice seems to love it. I'll be using it in my office rig with some Energy C-3 bookshelves and a Sony SCD-CE595 (thanks to Danny Tse's "Deals of the Day" post). I hear it can drive the LSi7's pretty well, so those might be in my future.

Anyway, I guess I'll wait and try to get it for less...boo.

    Thanks again.

I think I got my 3480 for $160 NIB off CL locally. Great piece! I would easily pay $200 for one.

    NICE WORK!

I think you'll enjoy it. Mine hasn't let me down yet. Has to be the best value in stereo receivers. Power, looks, build quality, and tons of feature for $500. . . and an absolute steal for $200 or less.
