AVR + Amp

I'm using a Yam Rx-V995 as a pre and a 5ch HK amp x85wpc.
I run all channels through the HK amp since it's 5 ch.
What is the advantage of running your front mains off of the amp and the center/ rears off of the AVR as many of you suggest?

It all about the music.................HT is secondary. The mains deserve the best amp you can buy if stereo usage is important to you. 2 channels of external power is more reasonable $$$ than 5/7. Most upgrading their power are looking into amps of 150-250 watts or so and 5/7 channel amps of this size are overkill. Your 5800 is a nice amp, and should power your system nicely.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

Bi-amp your mains with the amp, if your mains permit, if not leave as is.
Run center off the remaining amp channel.
Advantage... More headroom, larger/wider sound stage possible.
Give it a try and judge for yourself.

Ok, I'm a dummy.
My two front mains can be bi-amped but how would I do it?
I'm running the basic set up of all channels rca jacked to the amp and the speakers coming off the amp.

Also does this help matters if the front mains are called small by the 'pre' or does this just benefit stereo.Yamaha RX-V995

Split the L&R out from the pre with a y-splitter.
Type in bi-amping in the search box....lot of good info to be had.

Most of the time, people suggest just getting a 2 channel amp for the fronts & letting the receiver handle the rest, for money considerations.
Since you already have a 5 channel amp, use all 5 channels for all of your speakers. There is no need to complicate the situation with more wiring.
If you need more power, get a more powerful amplifier.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2
