There are some used Wharfedale Sapphire SP-87, appear to be in good shap on ebay that is close to me so I could actually pick them up (a rarity it seems like).

Seller wants $145 with buy it now at $195. I don't know much about them except the brand is supposed to be good. Is this price worth taking a gamble to see if I like them or not? I would either use them in HT to replace Rti4s in front. (Probably cause me to need a new center). Or I will put them in the gym to replace the cheap put decent R300s. Allowing me to move the R300s to the garage.

Any suggestions?

I haven't heard the Sapphire series. The Wharfedale dealer closest to me only carried the Modus series for a few months then dropped all Wharfedale.

The S&V Buyer's Guide from 2001 says the list price of the model 87 was $1050/pr. Speaking for myself only, I would probably risk $200 on a set in decent shape. Then again, I can't resist a cute pair.

    Of speakers! :)
