Sub placement?

I currently have one SR124dvc and will be adding another. I have the sub facing the cab. I know car audio is a try it to see if it's better but I'm wondering if it would be worth the effort. My question: I have a large rear deck in my seabring and I’m thinking about fire the subs up towards the rear window through the 6x9 holes. The rear seat is very thick and that's one of reasons I'm thinking about doing this. I would probably build a wall behind the seat to deaden the sound from the trunk. Also I would place the subs as close to the rear deck as I can.

Thoughts.

Youre on the right track by trying different spots.

If you place it up front firing into the cabin you can expect some cancellation from the backwave bouncing off the rear of the trunk and back into the cabin. You can get around this by either firing the subs towards the rear, placing the sub in the very back of the trunk firing into the front or building an airtight baffle seperating the front of the sub from the back of the trunk.

Right now I have built a wall directly behind the sub but it's not air tight. Would it make a significant difference if I did make it air tight. Also if I decide to try the sub facing the rear deck firing at the window would I loose any sq?

I cant say. Each car and sub is different. Try it and see.

Yes, it has to be airtight for best results.

though i have only had subs in SUV's or hatchbacks, i have always had better response by facing them rearward, but several inches from the rear "wall".
