Hybrid SL2500...worth it?

I just got an Email back from Polk regarding replacement tweeters for my venerable Monitor 12 Series 2 (I damaged one when I moved to a new house). I was told that the current SL2500 is a hybrid of the SL3000 coil and the dome of the SL2500. I like the old speaker, but I have heard better. Has anyone heard the hybrid SL2500? If so, is it an improvement?

2 x Adcom GFA 555 II (bridged mono) amps
Polk Audio Monitor12, Series 2, speakers with RDO 198 tweeters

    Welcome to Club Polk. What is the part number they offered? I'm guessing RD0198-1 which will look like post #2 in this thread http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25377

    BTW, keep your M12 S2 for someone special. They don't show up too often.

    I have no intention of giving up the speakers. I'm the original owner, and they are still solid speakers. I just figured that if I had to replace both, i might as well experiment with an "upgrade" if at all possible.

    for the moment I'm just going to replace the damaged part with the stock parts, but still plan on trying a different setup of tweeters when I get back home.

    The new RD0 tweeters are a vast improvement, get two.
