Are Bose Acoustimass AM-15 home theater speakers good for Dolby digital/Dts 5.1 surround? How do they compare with the Polk's RM-6500 satellite mini speakers?
Thanks

Jose,
This is a POLK AUDIO website. We don't talk much about Bose here, except to laugh at the fools who have gone out and purchased Bose. I hope this answers your question.

Jose,
You go out and buy just about ANY speakers but Bose, come on back and **** and have a few laughs with us.
George Grand (of the Jersey Grand's) -
there ya got it Jose.... personaly..I'd get anything these days but the bose.... even my 25$ per speaker optimus that I have in the game room did better mids/highs than my AM5 that I used to have. Sad eh?
there are a lot of other options ....Polk, jbl, energy, mission, boston, and more...almost every one has a small speaker system that will blow bose away at half the cost.
Bose is great at marketing ok speakers...and charging you for it..
anyway... let us know what ya get....

"Bose is great at marketing okay speakers". This sentence is the crux of the matter!
In an earlier Bose bashing post, somebody posted some cool anti-Bose websites. One of them had the sane observation that, if Bose only charged $500 MSRP, for a pair of speakers that cost them $150 to manufacture and bring to market (901's being the example given), we wouldn't gripe so much. He would be squarely in the arena he belongs in. Technic's, Cerwin-Vega, Klipsch, present day KLH, and the likes. But no, he charges $1500 MSRP, and touts them as world class. Able to compete with the best, or in a league all their own.
THAT, plus the fact that the clever stinker DOES sell more speakers worldwide than anybody else, is what gets under OUR skin. Plus, we know better.
George Grand (of the Jersey Grand's) -
Okay, I got it! Thanks alot dudes.

Hey, by the way. What do you know about the Sony STR-DB930 receiver? Is it any good?
Thanks

This could be another ugly one:D

If you are considering the purchase of one, there are other rcvrs you may want to consider. If you already own one, a pair of speakers that are not too demanding MAY be in order. The other guys will steer you the right way about rcvrs.

Yamaha, Denon, & Onkyo.

Educated a new CC employee last night:
"Do you have anything better than Bose?"
me: "Yes, most of our other speakers are."
*confused look* "I thought Bose was the best??"
me: "What speakers have you directly compared them to?"
*blank stare* then "None, I guess."
me: "Let's go to the sound room so you can actually compare them."
Well, you know where this story ends. The Polk Monitors sounded so much better, it was laughable. They guy thanked me for not letting him waste his money, because we was planning to buy some Bose in a month.
This exact scenario plays like a broken record.

Freakin' creeps me out to look at the date and time of the last post by Russ. The world changed forever about 12 hours after it.
