Hell, yeah. Might just pre-order both HD-DVDs on Amazon.

Anyone found where they (HD-DVDs in general) can be had for cheap? I might pick up Matrix Trilogy and Planet Earth if I can find good prices. Still waiting on my 5 free HD-DVDs, too. Not sure if those will ever come.

300's HD-DVD comes in a combo format so instead of just buying the DVD, buy the HD-DVD combo. You pay a little more but you can play it on your DVD player and then when you decide to upgrade to an HD-DVD player, you already have HD-DVD :D

Plus, the HD-DVD version of 300 has additional features the Blu-Ray version doesn't have due to HD-DVD having more abilities when it comes to dynamic content I believe.

i love the combo's as well. all i ever hear on other forums is how it adds $3 to the hd dvd's price. it seems perfect to me. anyway, mine shipped monday so i'm hoping to get it early. like today. that would be sweet. many have already received their pre-orders. (300)

Yeah, going to be an expensive week for me: 300, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Shooter, and Darkman all on HD DVD.

It's Blu 300 for me. I won't waste money on a combo disc. Once you HD you can't go back so there's no point paying for something I'll never use.

not that i would, but with the combo, i can lend my copy of 300 to friends/family whom don't have an hd dvd player. (yeah, right. risk a scratch? hell no) also, i can watch the dvd in my other room since it's got the standard def dvd on the other side. totally worth it to me. and if you're a 'baller' (unlike myself) one could play it in their caddilac escalade.:)

How is 2 formats on one disc a waste of money? You don't pay any more for it than any other HD disc.

Oh you and your impeccable logic. :) You just don't get it do you?

I've got 300 at the top of my Netflix queue, but I've got a suspicion I should just purchase it instead. I'm getting the BluRay version.

Couldn't get myself to drop the $34.99 + tax this morning at CC for either of these on HD-DVD.

Sucks that they mark the DVD down to $13.99 the first few days but keep HD-DVD at full price.

Need to find a way to get these titles cheaper without having to wait for them to ship like Amazon. As a Gen whatever, I need that instant gratification. But, as my father's son, I need to find great deals. Life's tough sometimes.

Amazon is selling HD-DVD for $27.98 or so, no tax, and of course, free shipping. A saving of over $8 if you count sales tax.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I think I'll rent them from Movie Trading to start. If I like, I can get the $5 rental price put towards the cost of the movie, and they give me the used price which would be around what Amazon is charging.

Nice to try before you buy.
