Albini is a hack of a producer. Ever listen to some Cheap Trick or the Page and Plant cd, horrid mixing and recordings. The only reason he became famous was for the Nirvana recordings and that grunge sound is all he knows. Sounds dated, muffled and is horrid to me. If he never produced/recorded another thing I'd be a very happy person.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Puritan Audio PSM136 Pwr Condtioner & Classic PC's | Legend L600 | Roon Nucleus 1 w/LPS - Tubes add soul!

I suppose you'd also think Danny Elfman and David Bottrill are hacks too.

It's not about whether he is good or not, it's about the thread, what he knows/shares, and the fact that it's a good read/Q&A with someone who has been around the block a few times in the music industry.

I don't care if all he did was $h1t on two cymbals, crash them together, and called it a masterpiece. It's who was in the studio with at the time and the story/laughs/info behind it.

Oh I agree, he's worked with some of my favorite musicians and when I get home tonight I will read thru the link if for no other reason than to gain some insight about those musicians. I just don't think he has much talent at all. ;)
