RT2000i to become unpowered...

Okay so I lost one of the amplifiers in my RT2000i's. This happened to me once before on a set of RT1000p's that I had. When I took out the amp to get a new one from polk I can definately say I was ashamed of that little thing. I love the speaker though - here is what I am thinking. Why not remove the amp and go ahead with a new crossover that would allow me to use my Outlaw Audio amplifier to its fullest potential, driving a full range speaker. Could the crossover from the RTi10 be used - it has two bass drivers correct? Then I could order it from polk, put a plate in place of the amp and have a nice full range speaker. If anyone has considered this give me your input.
My late 1990's all-star system (Still going strong in 2009):
Polk RT2000i fronts
Polk CS400i
Polk FX500i rears
M&K v-125 Sub

2006 Dodge Ram - install coming soon
(2) C500.1
(2) Polk Momo 12's
(2) C300.2
Need Speakers - MM series

I have had my RT1000p's for ten years now and have never had an issue with the amp section. I always have the gain 50% or lower.
Wow, i just checked and one was at 30% and the other was cranked all the way up. Damn cats........................
Anyway, what you are talking about is not a bad idea and could work. I really enjoy my 1000's and would be interested in you project. Getting to the other crossover and speaker wires might be tough.

Do the fact I feel you would have trouble re-engineering the speaker or it just wouldn't sound right after. I consider fixing what you got now so they are 100% selling them, and upgrading to something else that is not self powered.
