What would you do? Would you quit your job? Buy a new house? Build the ultimate HT and or music room?

A little daydreaming never hurt......

History shows that most of us, if we won the lottery, would actually go bankrupt. But that's besides the point.

Pay off debt, dole out to my family, and buy a house would be the top 3. Beyond that, it depends on how much I won :)

Today is 07/07/07, should be a pretty lucky day, right? Then again, if it's lucky for EVERYONE....
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

    I would:
    • Pay off the wife's student loans
    • Fill out our children's colledge funds
    • Build a house with a nice media room on some acreage in WI
    • Replace our cars
    • Take a nice family vacation to Disney World for a week
    • Bankroll the rest for retirement at 45! :D

Different amounts most likely be treated different ways by me.

10 mil from a lottery would be 5 mil cash settlement which would then be 2.5 mil after taxes, so 250 grand from investments forever is a nice bump in pay. Most likely would still work for myself.

100 mil different story........take the 25 mil left over, and live off the 2.5 mil per year and never lift a finger again..................except to count my stacks of cash.

Buy a shore house and a boat and sit on the rest. I'd show up for work but keep it to 8 hourdays. My wife's wordrobe would most likly grow. The kids already get everything they want.

$10 mil to me wouldn't be enough to retire at this point in my life.

    Let's see...

Work another 5-10 years. (45-50 yo)
Build a home to my liking w/ custom home theater.
Buy a Dodge Viper! (Oh hell yeah!)
Pay off every little bit of debt I have.
Host a Polkfest in my new home.
    Take a sweet vacation!
Enjoy the hell out of life!

Even though you are kidding, You do NOT want Darla to use handcuffs on you. Trust me, she will literally kick your **** and break your wrists!:D

Even though I'd also buy a huge house with tons of land, I still hate the idea of paying all the HUGE taxes that go along with it. I guess If I had millions, it really wouldn't matter anyway.

Geez only 10 mill huh? well I would give most of it away im sure of that. perhaps spend 250k of it on new toys, then put the rest into some sort of trust that would give a percentage of the interest income every year out to selected programs.

It would take an awful long time for 2 -3 mill to actually grow much, but eventually in a few hundred years lol it would be really able to help people out. Sort of a permenant fund. It would really make me feel good to know that I did something to help out people that were not even born yet, and had no idea of who I was.

    REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Out of 10 million , the cash payout is 63% then they take out 75% of that (according to the FL Lotto website) so you would have about 4,725, 000.00 after taxes. Even if they take out 60% for taxes after all is said and done you would have 3,780,000. Even earning a meager 5% you would make 189k a year before taxes. I think it's doable to retire on if you don't go nutso.
