Biamping redux

I thought I understood this biamping stuff until I started thinking about it. My question is if you are biamping with a 2 channel preamp, how do you split the L/R preamp outputs to be able to biamp the speakers? Do you use a Y splitter coming off the preamp outputs?

    y spit out of the preamp for both channels. send 2 left rca's to the 2 channel amp for left and send 2 right rca's to the 2 channel amp for the right speaker. Remove speaker shorting clips and plug speaker wires for L/R to upper and lower speaker terminals.
