Follow this link and download the Image Resizer:
Microsoft Power Toys
Or the direct installer link:
ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe (521kb)
Run the installer. Right click picture you wish to upload to Club Polk --> Resize Pictures. The small option works well for the site (640x480 pixels). It will create a copy of that photo beside the original with a different name and your new found dimensions ready for the forum!
Batch resizing / multiple pics at once
Highlight all the photos you want to resize by either dragging with your mouse or using the shift + click or ctrl + click. Right click --> Resize Pictures. Same thing as before, but it does them all in one shot.
I'm only posting this to try and reduce the number of full size pics on the site. It's brutal to read a thread that contains a picture that's 3000x2000, not to mention bandwidth polk has to fork out for all of us to download a 3mb image each time.

That program is BY FAR the fastest way I've ever seen to resize pictures. I used to use Nikon Capture Editor (faster load time than photoshop cs) and that was faster than anything I've found until now. It actually does a decent job by maintaining quality and keeping the file size really small. Obviously I'll stick with photoshop or the nikon editor for things I care about but if it's just for the forum this tool is great.

I was under the impression that people who post full size pics do so with the intention of it being FULL size. It is easier to upload a pic that is going to be displayed as a thumb than it is to post the full size.:) -
Giant pictures are no big deal but just don't link them in posts so you're forced to view them at their full resolution. Thumbnails were created for this exact purpose, or you can use the image resizer and find the happy medium. I guess the resizer is more applied to people using embedded images (using either vb code or html) rather than actually attaching a photo.
jtgranby,
I'm assuming the picture you resized to begin with wasn't very good quality? I haven't seen the tool ever produce such chunky images -
Nice little program Michael. Thanks.Michael
In the beginning, all knowledge was new!

Let's see if this works....Should be a shot I took in Yosemite.
Cool! Thanks for the tip.Wristwatch--->Crisco -

I guess photography is not my strong point:o

The photo itself is fine but the previous two you posted had a lot of jpeg artifacts (broken up into chunks / squares that have a greenish or purple tint). This is usually caused by either a poor scan or somewhere along the line where you've edited the photo (such as using this tool).

Bump for those that missed it the first time.
