Need help with my sr124-dvc and c500.1

Hey guys, I just put in a c500.1 to power a sr124-dvc sub. Being that they are both Polk, I am thinking people on here would be able to help me set the adjustments on the amplifier. Firstly should I use the pre-eq button on the c500.1? Also how should I go about setting the subwoofer amp gain? There are subwoofer level as well as bass controls on my alpine cda-9885 that I am using with the amp and I don't know the proper way to adjust the gain on the amp. I know for the stereo amps you turn the volume 3/4 of the way up then turn the gain up until it distorts and back down a little. Is it the same procedure for the subs? I should mention that this is in the trunk of my acura rsx type s and the sr124 dvc is in a 1.21 sealed box. I am using the pre-eq button now but somehow I think that that button is only to be used with the momo subs. I think I need to set the crossover and bass control setting on the c500.1 manually. I am confused and need help.

I will tell you the truth. I only see instructions for setting up the sub amp by voltage testing but there is nothing at that link which tells me the proper way of setting the subwoofer amplifier by ear. I was hoping someone here could help me with that along with all the other settings on a c500.1

Do not use the pre-eq setting. Lowpass around 50-60 Hz. Set gain by ear. i.e. no clipping at louder volumes.

As for the gain setting, I agree to set it by ear but dont go over half way with it.

I would say tho to start the low pass off at 80 Hz for starters. Then you can back it down some if you think its too much. For heavy metal and rock type music that isnt very bass heavy, 80 Hz sound pretty good. For jazz, rap and other bass heavy music, 80 may be too much.

What do you mean don't go over half way. I have the gain selector switch at low. Should it be set as high? As for the gain adjustment, should I still make the settings with the volume 3/4 of the way up? My head unit has subwoofer level controls, should it be set to 0 or should it be set all the way up to 15? Should the bass level on the headunit be all the way up to 7 or should it be at 0 or lower?

The reason I started this thread is because I have the sr124dvc in a 1.21 sealed enclosure and the bass is sometimes boomy. its not as tight as I would like. The installation is top notch as I know how to take anything apart and i installed everything carefully. I just don't have experience setting amplifier crossovers and gains. Everything works perfectly it is just some setting I need to fix up. In addition to the advice I requested in my previous post right above this one, I was wondering what I should have the bass boost level and bass boost frequency set as. I hope someone can give me detailed responses to this and my last post.

The best way to go about it is to set your mids/highs gain first. This is where youll use the 3/4 volume. After that is set, youll then adjust the sub's gain til it blends in well with the front. But the gain itself shouldnt be over the halfway or noon position. This greatly reduces the chances of clipping the amp and blowing a hole in your sub.
