Improving bass response in partially open room..

My audio room is partially open to my kitchen. I don't seem to mind too much, since it's convenient while entertaining guests, but since that room is also on a slab, I had to go overboard on subs(2 12" Infinity, 1 12" ED). Since my kitchen counter and cabinets are what separates the two rooms, would placing insulation between the sheetrock and cabinets help keep bass in the room, or would it just prevent it from rocking the rest of the house?

Since my sink is inline with the two Infinity subs, if I wash dishes while the system is cranking, it reminds me of high school and being in the backseat of a car with a large kicker box.

I am also considering making some sound absorbing panels to place along the room.

TIA!

Hey face. I had Infinity subs, and to put it bluntly they suck(sorry not trying to be harsh, but trying to get my point across). Also my over powered 15" sonosub outside in the shop(huge area) could not sufficiently pressurize the area. The insulation idea would only help preventing the sound from rattling the rest of the house. It would probably be hard pressed to go over board on a sub in that kind of environment. I would need to see how open, and how much area is actually in the combined space.
    Good luck

Yes, I know the Infinity subs stink, they'll be replaced in my next wave of mods. But they're being used as more of a mid bass since I'm also using Infinity satellites. They do(supposedly) go down to 50, and that's where I have my ED sub crossed.

As for the room itself, it's roughly 10x15, tile floor, on a slab, 2 walls are exterior, 1 wall is adjacent to the garage, and the other wall is semi open to the kitchen. The kitchen is 10x16, and is over the basement.

I eventually plan on replacing the Infinity satellites and sub with more Tannoy gear. A buddy of mine has some NOS that he's willing to part for cheap.

Here's the stats on my main sub:

It does a good job pressuring the area, but as with everything else, I always want more. You seem to be somewhat familiar with that too. :D

Improving bass is a driver issue to me, you need to pressuring the room / area. That's why I love my Rt150i for 2 channel and HT they are large enough to pressurize the room roughly 25' X 25' with a 10' ceiling. I also use a nice sub Paradigm Servo 15 but only in HT mode.

Before I would do anything I would mess with room placement. From your layout I am guessing that you have an open side wall to the kitchen(ie L or R). My setup has a wall next to the L speaker, and is open to the R speaker. I need to do a wall treatment! Also My sub is corner loaded which gives better bass, but also localizes it.
