I agree and it's stunning in 5.1! Great job by Giles and George Martin. We saw the 'Love' show last year and it's amazing as well.

Good album. Slightly disappointed in the sound quality after it was recommended to me as a great sounding / recorded album.

    My .o2 cents.....

Yeah, I just plopped it back in the ol' rig when I saw this post and maybe it's the recording technology of the era but it's a little bright. Granted I don't have these recordings on anything but old LP's that I haven't yet gotten to play yet since I reintroduced vinyl in my rig, so I have nothing to compare it too but overall some of the sounds on this album I consider annoying. Some of it is great but not what I would consider reference. The stereo separation on some of the tracks are pretty damn cool though. I do like that.

I don't have the 2 disc set or a copy in DTS. I've got the single disc with only 26 songs on it. I bought it from Manifest in Charlotte, so I don't think I have a bootleg copy either. This is one of those discs [at least the one I have] that would make me break out the EQ to enjoy it the way I would one of my reference albums.

I may have the LP version of this album, I'd have to check. Bought so many albums lately, I can't remember what I have and what I don't.

    Mine are the 180 to 200 gram pressing from Holland. EMI/Apple 0946 379 808 1 1

I believe I purchased it from the Elusive Disc.

This is an awesome sounding double LP set. Several other Polkies and non-Polkies have heard it here and were blown away.

Maybe I'll give it another whirl on SACD or the LP you referred too. 52 songs sure beats the 26 on my copy and hopefully one of those formats [may try both] will get me liking it better than I do now.

    0946 3 79808 2 8 is the version I have, FYI.

Tom, in the opening where there are birds tweeting and forest noises a bee flies by and makes you duck. That's how really well done this LP set I have is.

How come there is so many different versions of this? Some have 30 songs, others 52, others 26? WTF? I remember a time when albums used to be the same [pressings and formats aside]. What happened?

.....and does anybody know why my copy isn't that good when an quesstimated 98% of audiophiles say it's one hell of a good recording?

I think it's a very good recording in both 5.1 and 2 channel. I can't say it sounds bright to me even on my Cornwalls.

As some one who has never really sat down and listened to the Beatles before, but I have been wanting to start to listen to some more classic rock and suck, I was totally blow away by this album. It's fantastic!!

How can anyone hate the Beatles? You must like at least a few of their songs:
    In My Life
    Girl
    Eleanor Rigby
    A Day in the Life
    Something
    Strawberry Fields
    Penny Lane
    Come together
    Norwegian Wood
    Oh Darling
    Hey Jude

etc etc etc. I could list 100 great songs by them. I can't imagine not listening to the Beatles.

Nope, pretty much can't stand them! Some of George Harrison's solo stuff is OK. Can't stand McCartney's Wings and other solo crap. Different flavors for different folks.

There's always an exception to the rule

I was tired of listening to the Beatles 1 min and 42 sec's after I heard my first Beatles song. I once had a Beatles poster for Yellow Submarine that I changed to "We all drowned in a Yellow Submarine".

got to hear the Beatles Love in 5.1 over the weekend.. even though i don't have DVD-Audio in da house anymore. the DTS mix was very impressive. my friend who has DVD-A was even impressed with the DTS track on the DVD. It also contains a DD track mix as well.

I will have to pick this up. I like what I heard.. I think George Martin and his son Giles did an incredible job on the remixes. Some of the songs are pretty much left intact, and others are slightly remixed... a new approach to the Beatles music.

If remixes of Beatles music irks you.. then you may not like these.

The "LOVE" LP is one of my reference LPs. It is awesome. BTW Giles did almost all of the remixes as George Martin is practically deaf.

Yeah, I like the SQ, but I've got to admit that I just don't like it when they put one song on top of another. It's just really annoying to me. I love it when they just play the songs.
