Blind bought this today and had a couple of neighbor's over and we all really enjoyed it, enough to plan another night to watch it again. Decent acting, good story, and some great action make for a well done film. Can't seem to go wrong with Wahlberg he does a fine job in this one.

Watched it two days ago. It was OK, but not great. Poor writing. Ending sucked. Storyline was virtually identical to "Most Wanted" which came out 10 years ago.

It's only worth watching for the action scenes. Rent, don't buy.

hmm, I really like Shooter. I thought Mark Wahlberg's performance is very good. It reminds me of Bourne Identity's line of actions.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I just watched this the other night...It was pretty good, a comparison to the Bourne Identity is pretty accurate...Overall, it was well done.

Cool, but I've pretty much given up buying anymore HD-DVDs. It's all Blu-ray from here on unless it's something I can't live without.

No, like I said, I'll still buy if it's something I want and cannot get on BD but I believe that Blu will win this war and so that is the direction I'm going with my purchases.

I could be wrong but unless studio support changes for HD-DVD they won't make it. They do only have Universal as an exclusive supporter.

I would buy a BR player just so that I can have "Apocalypto" on HD.

I hear you, Ron. My HD-DVD investment is meager, a XBOX360 HD-DVD player with 5 movies so far. I am with you in that thinking twice before getting another movie on HD-DVD format.

rented this the other night. Worth the two hours. I knew what I was getting into, and it didn't disappiont.

This is exactly the type of movie that, if I found it on while flipping through TNT or TBS, I would watch it. Kind of like when Commando, Conan the Barbarian, Bruce Lee movies, Bond movies, Resident Evil, etc. are on TV, I just can't stop watching even if I just saw it weeks before. But, I wouldn't rent or buy many / any of them.

Haven't seen a good action flick in awhile. Drama, suspense, action, decent script. Yes, there's been several variations on this theme so nothing new here but it was well done and I enjoyed the presentation like a Victoria's Secret catalog: hot babe in underwear.

    I say buy it.

My wife and I are in transition right now, lvinh out of boxes till tomorrow at my dad's house. (they are gone sailing for 3 months) I put in the dvd not realy knowing much about it. So even though we watched it on a non calibrated tube tv and sound through Bose, we enjoyed this movie very much. My wife said "we have not seen a decent movie in a while". I thought it was going to be a guys flick with tons os guns and "ya what ever " stunts. Once we get our system hooked up in our new place I'm going to watch it over and I rarely watch movies twice !

I liked it. It wasn't ground shattering, or even that original... but it was good fun entertainment.

Rather predictable, but was supported by a good acting crew. I wouldn't buy it full price, but well worth a rental. It had a flavor of Borne and that in my book, is a good thing!

6 outta 10 here. Worth the ride. Good FX for audio, which worked the SVS out nicely. Wife commented that it had been a while since the SVS had been pushed! :D Gotta love that! Ha.

My parents even commented on this being a good movie. But, then again, my mom's dad's favorite movies of all time include anything with Steven Segal, and this was the same plot "screwed over by powerful men, grew a beard in the mountains, then killed / beat up everyone in sight or 2 hours, and get a chick" that Steven Segal is famous for.

It's been done before but I still thought it was a great movie. I was surprised that it was two hours long, as most movies of this type are bearly an hour and a half but the extra length didn't drag and seemed to help the movie.

I thought I recognized a lot of the scenery in that movie - it was filmed about 30 minutes from here (New Westminister). In particular, the opening chase scene where he is running in the cop car. It was kind of interesting to see him being chased and actually know what would have been a better way to escape. I kept thinking to myself "no no go left, the other way leads you no where!".

    I'd say 7.5 / 10 ~~ definitely worth renting.

    Decent flick, I enjoyed it.

I love the 'my wife said.....' comments. No one cares what your little lady said. Tell her to shut up and watch the movie.

I remember when living in Etobicoke, All the Police Academies where filmed about 30 blocks over. We'd take our bikes and go ride around there. Same with TNT amd a whole bunch of other movies. It was an old mental institution which every call the "looney bin" where the HQ of PA was filmed.
You could see them trying to make it American, but then you would see shots of then CN tower or Toronto Sun newspaper boxes, or even shots of the TTC.

I watched Shooter today with Mark Wahlberg, Danny Glover, Ned Beatty and Mark Bara. Overall its a pretty good shootemup with an interesting plot. Get's a little political and it favors one side over the other but I am looking passed that. The soundtrack is OK during most of the warfare scenes. Mostly a dialogue movie with some interesting locations and good if not unbelievable action shots.

Grades ... solid B for cinema / story
... B- for sound but theres not much in the way of typical 5
channel sound anyways. Some good explosions and ricochets.
