This is Maroon 5's follow-up to their excellant album, "Songs About Jane." I have the CD right now and am searching for the LP.

Music: 5 stars

Sonics: on most tracks 5 stars on a couple it seems they compressed the music so 3 1/2 on those. Overall it is a very very good offering.

I think Bill A. commented on how great the bass response is, I agree.

I really want the LP. As much as I liked the music, I had a little trouble with the digital grunge on some of the more complex tracks. I noticed with their first album that the LP really out shined the CD. I think this is going to be the case on this new album too.

If the quality is anything like their previous album, then they still have issues.

Songs About Jane was pretty bad in regards to overall mastering and production. Yeah it had "bass response", but it was waaaaay to heavy in the wrong places (I'm talkin 20-40hz here) on the low end and generally overproduced.

I haven't gotten the new one yet because the first single didn't impress me.

their latest CD doesn't hold water to Songs About Jane. a pretty weak follow up IMHO
I still bought it of course.. but have only really listened to it about 4 or 5 times. As for Songs, i've worn out two CD's of it and now own the vinyl too. ;) it's dang good.
    PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert

When my son gave me the new CD he said it may be one of those that require a couple of listens. I don't know, maybe I just like these guys so much that I think this was a good followup to "Songs" causin I liked it on the first spin. I do however want to get the LP because that digital grunge on the CD is more than I can take.

As far as the quaility of the first one. . . I am talking about the LP now, it was engineered and mixed extremely well. It is very dynamic and the lead singers voice sounds very natural. I've not listened to the CD for almost a year now so I dont' know if that is bad or not but the LP is fantastic.

Ahh, understood. I was talking about the CD. I'll have to check out the LP (once I finally get my new system completed).

I really like this album as well, and yes, the bass is WAY overdone on most of these tracks IMO....This CD made my poor little B&W bookshelves rattle all over the place on my dresser, even at moderate volumes...The first time I played it through my main system, I thought I bumped the level controls on my sub, that little Sunfire was kickin'....Besides the Bass issue, I thought it was a nice album...

My wife just picked this up, knowing her "tastes", I assumed it was another horrible pop album. I'll have to give it a listen.
