Opinion needed: New music system

I have found its about time to get myself a decent music system at home, and Im thinking about Polks RTi10 with an AVR for starters. Then build it out to a complete home theater when more cash comes my way.
What do you think about Polk RTi10 with the new Sony STR-DA5200ES to power them? Will this amp stand up to the speakers?
Appreciate your opinions.
Cheers,
Bjorn

Welcome Bjorn. Never owned those speakers or that AVR, but with 120 wpc I would say you will be ok. Others may have actual experience. Do a search on the RTi10's here on the forum to see what other people are driving them with. Good Luck.Michael
In the beginning, all knowledge was new!

I thought I would give you something else to think about AVR wise....I don't know how much you are planning to spend, I based this off of the price of the Sony....

Thanks for the tip Bill, but considering I live in Norway the price of the Denon will multiply due to taxes before it reaches me... Looks really good though.

My experience with the RTi10s and music is they are bright and are sensitive to your supply chain. That is interconnects, CD Player, etc. I would recommend you stay away from anything that will add to the brightness. For example I use Audioquest Sidewinders because they tend to tone the brightness down. I also use a B&K amp for the same reason.
I have never heard the Sony AVR but if reviews refer to it as bright I would not use it with the RTi's. Not sure what you have access to in Norway but a warmer sounding AVR like Harmon Kardon, NAD or Arcam would be a better match for the RTi's.
I drove my setup with just the Elite receiver for a couple of years before adding the amp. It did good for HT but not very good for music. I did notice a big improvement in music once I added the B&K. Another option is to add a good two channel amp to the Sony when you can afford it.
If your primary use will be HT, like mine is, they will do ok for music and great in HT. However if you primary use is music then you may want to listen to other speakers.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH
