Compare the SR's for me.

I will either purchase SR6500 speakers or Seas W18NX with the Scan D2904/6000 tweeter for my speakers.
I will also either buy the SR124DVC sub or TC sounds 3000 or SoundSplinter Supreme 12 inch sub for the subwoofer.
They will be run off of a memphis belle 16mch1300 and a Pioneer 880PRS HU.
I know this is a Polk forum, but disregarding price completely, attempt to objectively (again, I know this is a Polk forum) choose from the above.

Scans and Seas are excellent speakers.
So are the Polks.
Cant go wrong with either.
But Polks are cheaper, have better value, better customer service and a forum for you to spam up ( ). You owe it to them - to us all - to buy the Polks.
And for all you young whipersnappers out there, that was a Fast Times at Ridgemont High reference. If you dont get it, do yourselves a favor and buy the DVD. Every American should own that movie!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Sorry. I'll stop spamming soon. What about the subs? I think I'll go with the polks.
Do I have to use the Polk crossover, or can I just use the one in my HU? It's better than the polk one.My system (thanks to everybody for the help)

memphis low end speakers are low end. The belle is a really good amp though. It matches the SR's fine. All there other amps are "doodoo"My system (thanks to everybody for the help)

The tweeter on the Sr6500's is superb. Voices sound very lifelike and natural without the brightness one usually finds on car speaker choices IMO. The overall tone of the speakers leans to the warm end of neutral.Sharp Elite 70

The crossover in your HU is just a highpass. You need the Polk crossover to lowpass the mids and highpass the tweets. The only other option is using a 4 channel and running them all active. Your amp would have to have a built in crossover that is capable of crossing over higher frequencies though. Or you would have to have an outboard active crossover.
-
fyi - imho, the outboard passive xover on the SR's is one of the most nicely built and 'made of well chosen audiophile parts' crossovers that i've seen. you'd be hard pressed to build anything better (in passive form) for less than $300 in parts. The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge

I was told to use the active crossover in the 880 PRS and use the front two channels in the amp for the tweets and the rear two channels for the midwoofers.
Also, any opinions on the subs?My system (thanks to everybody for the help)

Personally, I would use the crossover that was specifically designed for the drivers to work together.
-
Since youre a beginner, Id stick with the Polk's crossovers so you dont blow your tweeters. You can fidget around with the 880's crossover network with the Polk crossover still hooked up. This will protect your speakers while you learn the ropes of tuning.
As for running the tweets off the front channels and mids off the rear, this is the best way to run component speakers. Since each driver has its own amp channel it gives you a ton more potential in tuning. Take mine for instance, since I bi-amp Im able to have seperate and independant crossover, gain, time alignment and 31 band EQ for each driver.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
