I love Monitor 5's

Truly, an incredible speaker. They sound excellent at low volumes, they image well, play music very well. Maybe its just because of my SDA love, but there just seems to be a lot of magic in these vintage drivers.

They aren't the pinnacle of accuracy, imaging, depth, etc, and no doubt there are better looking speakers... but damn it, they rock the music real well. I have them hooked up to a Trends Audio TA-10, 7 watts of high quality clean power for near field listening with my computer, where I master audio, and I couldn't ask for a better combination. The amp is laid back, which is great since I don't like my music overly bright.

Recently, I decided I need deeper bass since I occasionally game on this machine and like to feel the rockets flying by me, so I built myself a sub using a Tang Band W8-740C driver and a 10" PR. I started integrating it with my Monitor 5's and found the ideal crossover point to be 50hz. 50hz for monitors!

I'm about twenty years late, but I'd just like to say, Thank you Polk!
Lovin that music year after year.

I use my newly freshened 5b's in my computer/office rig; RD0's and Solens. I use it for low level listening while I'm **** around on the computer. Many times I've stopped what I'm doing in amazement to what I'm hearing coming from them. A true Polk classic ;)

I love the 5's I have. It really made a bigger difference when I replaced my tweets with RDO. Krauss and Krall really sound good now.

I had some monitor5's that I gave to my buddy. I had him come in to my place. I hooked them up, and had him listen to them. Asked what he thought. He was surprised at how good they sound(he is the one who always brings people over to hear my SDA's), and I said happy birth day. I gave him those, and a CS101. He was using some cheapy HTB Walmart non name brand crap for his surround sound. He is happy now:)
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Krauss and Krall....would that be an accounting firm? I pictured you as a Rush (not Limbaugh) fan.

I have had about every variety of 5s and they all have sounded great. I now have the series 2 with the SL2500 tweet in my music room set up and love them. I A-B'd them with some 10Bs and they are amazingly close and half the size. Soon, I will do some upgrades on at least one pair.
