You know, whenever I talk to people about HT systems and try to rate them, at least in the past there seemed to be an exponential cost to quality. So when we talked about my systems back then it was kind of like "ya, its between low and middle end". So when I think about my system now I think that’s its still pretty much between low and medium end equipment.

Is that still true? Has technology closed the gap between high/medium/low end systems?

Sure like computers there’s still bleeding edge but it seems to me that high end is easy to acquire now-a-days for pretty cheap. I think I’m ok thinking I have a medium-end system now and did it relatively cheaply.

If you have more than a HTIB, then you are in the midfi catagory, & you have tons of company!

To me there are so many subclasses to high end that its difficult to say when someone has a system that is middle end or high end.

A few years ago I thought I had a "low-end" system. Until I heard an HTIB. For me now an HTIB is low-end.

HAHA very true.... I have stilll yet to hear any htib that has impressed me. I think of htib's as application peices, they are made only for specific applications such as bringing some better sound into like a den or a bedroom but never to be taken seriously as a main source of theater sound.

Not to mention that fact that for the most part normally spending only a few hundred dollars more up from an htib you will gain upwards of 2-4x the performance
