What do you guys think about the BIC H-100

After two disasters in getting subs (not enough power Velo VX-10, a broke Cadence X-SUB), I am waiting for my order of the BIC H-100. Never saw a bad review about it. Do any of you guys own it? How did it match against Polk speaker set ups?

BIC has a bad reputation for producing subs that suck. Hopefully, they've gotten better over the past couple of years.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

It could be that their amps don't have enough punch to them. They sound weak or missing something. Just dull.engtaz

wow, you guys are the only ones that said ANYTHING negative about the BIC Acousetech H-100. I appreciate it. Too late though, already ordered. The problem with the Cadence XSUB-12 was that the AMP was DOA. That's the whole reason I went with the BIC H-100 in the first place. After reading hundreds of rave review. I REALLY hope the upcoming BIC H-100 won't have a fried AMP. All I wanted was BASS.

From everything I have read, the H-100 is a great bargain sub. Try it out, it may be just fine.

I actually owned a couple of X-Sub12s and thought they were decent budget subs...gave them to my sons and they love them. A few months after I gave them up, I did a mini-shootout here between the Cadence, an H-100, my SVS and a Velo DD15. (the last 2 murdered them)
The H-100 was cleaner and hit slightly harder than the Cadence. It's much better than the entry level Velo's...VX and VRP since it's just as clean and digs deeper. It's comparable to the DPS10 for output, but not quite as articulate. For your setup it will be a nice addition.

The additional $3-400 is a big choking point for alot of people. I tried to get comparative value in a sub for the R50s...just not possible...$200 is the cost of parts in large volume, with still very skinny margins. You get what you get. $500 buys you a quality entry level sub. $200, spent wisely, buys a better than average entry level sub.

Ron, I did read your shootout. That's one of the primary reasons I went with the BIC H-100. I currently have a Klipsch Synergy 12 inch Sub "on loan". It sounds good to me, but it was $500  I think H-100 should own it at half the price. Is that a good assumption?

Just received my Acoustech Bic H-100 ordered from ebay ($239 shipped). I think you will be impressed. For the $$$ I don't think you will find a better sub. We sat and watched Jumanji twice yesterday...the sounds coming from those animal scenes are incredible and brought a whole new level of excitement to movie watching...pictures on the wall were rattling...absolutely amazing sound.
I must admit though that HT is kind of on a back burner for me. I far prefer and pursue the HS area and the musical experience it provides.
Being an SDA fan I have for sometime been intrigued by the Polk SurroundBar for HT use, so I was quite excited to find an open box unit at the local CC marked down 75%. I picked it up and find it to be all I expected; great single enclosure 5.1 surround solution, but lacking on the bass end as Polk states right up front. My initial reaction was to just pick up one of Polk's 10 or 12 inch subs to complete the system....I'm glad I did some reading.
I checked this forum, and the AVS forum where I stumbled on all the positive reviews for the H-100, and sorry to say the negative reviews concerning most of the Polk sub line. Most of the Polk club recommendations leaned toward the SVS or HSU lines which were just more money than I wanted to commit to my HT right now. Also many of these higher end subs require far more real estate than I had budgeted.
So, for now I am a very happy camper with the Bic H-100 and think you will be too!

OH MY MY, is all I can say. I got my BIC H-100 today and it's freaking amazing! It digs deeper, clearer, louder, than the $500 dollar Synergy Sub-12. I had the Klipsch at 5 volume and this one was at a 3. That Klipsch was just muddy and unclear compare to this, a mass mess of low sound. And this is the 1/2 the price. With the Klipsch, I can alway tell it was coming from the corner. With this, I can't tell where the bass is coming from, but it is sinister and clear. Wow, i am totally suprised. Thanks for everyone here and AVS Forum. You guys know your stuff. This gets my highest recommendation.

Ron, it was calibrated the same as the BIC and it's at the same location. Maybe it's because of the downfiring and I have carpet. But anyways, BIC does what I wanted.

H-100 is a great bargain sub
-
that being said, I am fully in the tank for SVS. I have a 16-46PC+ that is the best purchase I've ever made for my HT.
-
but I fully understand how some folks might not want to spend that kind of money for a sub (though I think the sub is in many ways the most important aspect to a HT).
I'd go w/ a bottom-end SVS and save up.
