Oppo 970 DTS, SACD Config Question

Having issue with the Oppo 970. If I set the HDMI cable for audio, DTS doesn't get passed through. If I hook up a SPDIFF (coaxial), DTS works but no SACD.

Is this a firmware issue or did I screw up the onscreen configuration? I'd hate to have to plug/unplug the coaxial and change the HDMI setting everytime I go from movie to SACD and vice-versa.

In other words, is there anybody out there only using the HDMI cable and getting both DTS and SACD?

Okay. Looks like my friend and I are only able to get the oppo to play DTS NEO 6 with only the HDMI cable hooked up to his Harmon AVR-347. Connecting the coaxial will yield DTS Digital but SACD is off.

Don't hold me to it, but I think SACD can only be passed thru the analog cables on that unit.

You are correct, sir. The problem is if you're using the Oppo to play SACD and DTS DVD movies. When in that configuration (analog/HDMI only), you only get DTS emulation (NEO 6).

My 971 is DVD A only via analog. In the setup menus, you set spdif to RAW, DVD A to 5..1 and the player auto detects which type of signal. For movies playback on the HK is DVD, for DVD A 6/8 channel direct. I'd think the 970 would be similar.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

    Hey Ron,
    Those are my exact settings.
