I was looking at the rotel website

http://www.rotel.com/products/specs/rb1092.htm

All I can say is WOW 2x 500 watts at 8 ohms

teamed with the rc-1082 its a powerhouse

http://www.rotel.com/products/specs/rc1082.htm

I can't wait to hear these when I go to sudbury. I'll even get to hear them with the B&W speakers I've been looking at

This amp was reviewed in The Absolute Sound earlier this year. Conclusion: Nothing special. I think it is $3000.
A class D amp really does not need that much power, as their 1077 at 100 watts easily drives tough speakers like the B&W 800 series.

Check out HTguide.com - Rotel section.

Whats cool is that both you and I are in Northern Ontario ... I had to do a triple take when I saw 'Sudbury' in your post!

I would not want any class D amp for stereo. I know you know that I love lots of power, but class D is not high SQ from what I have seen no matter who makes it. I would much rather have half the watts than run class D. When that style amp clips they really clip. I'm not trying to piss in your Cheerios, but IMHO switching power supplies really add a distasteful edginess to them. Class D is for Subs!

BTW I would love to hear it out of curiosity:p

These are Rotels version of the ICE Power class D modules built by B&O.Rowland Research and I think Bel Canto and others use versions of these B&O modules. They are amongst the best ClassD designs available but like Ben mentions it would be interesting to see(hear) how they compare to a good Class A or AB design.

There's an ongoing pissing match at AVS about how many watts you need...someone linked that ad...here's further gear that you need along with it.

Whole thread is kind of a fun read...guy asks a question then 2 opposite camps (just a couple of guys really) start sniping.

I like lots of watts, but not at the expense of SQ.
