Mike if you are going to pay that much then get a brand new Oppo HD 970. It costs exactly $150 and shipping is free!

It does every digital format known to man!!!

Probably overkill, and it is $65 over your limit...HOWEVER...timothyj has a NAD C542 for $215 shipped in this thread:

...it sure would make for one sweet "shop rig".

It's been so long that I've had a chance to spend sometime in the shop that I forgot all about this. The oppo sounds like a good deal. That Hk sounds like a good deal also. As soon as I have some time I will pull the trigger on something.

I highly recommend the oppo for cd music. You won't do better at $150. You can get the new 980 new for $180. Its supposed to have an edge over the 970. Seems like an awesome deal to me.

Dude, go to BB and pick something up brand new. Go ahead and get a DVD player instead so you can play mp3 and wma.

Might as well get something you can watch DIVX on too, not to mention use of memory sticks for pics and all that sort of thing. Remember the oppo supports DVD-A and SACD.

I'd spend $19 more and get an Oppo DV-980H, it has a couple more features, like 1080p output and 7.1.

I'm just curious WHY he would need these features for a "shop rig".

I would snag a new Sony changer for like $125. I think Sony makes the best budget players on the planet.
