I've been confused by my lack of true bass (below 55Hz) and too much bass in the 55Hz-70Hz range from my DefTech BP10B's. In addition, I've been confused by the lack of ANY output from my subwoofer. So I remembered a while back when Sid demoed his system to me and said that lowering the bass -4db on the preamp cleared up the "congested" sound from the Definitives.
So... I started with the tone controls flat at 0db, then changed my fronts from "Large" to "Small" with a crossover at 80Hz. As a result, I was able to lower the bass from 55Hz-70Hz by turning the sub down a few notches, until it was almost off. Now I have a nearly flat frequency response down to 18Hz. And I'm really glad that I got rid of the boomy bass from the Definitives!
Thanks Sid for all your great advice!
The BP10Bs would not sound so good if it were not for your help!
