Speaker matching
How important is it to match fronts/center to back/surround speakers. Thanks Jerry

I think it is pretty important if you like 5 or 7 channel stereo.engtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
I think it is imperative that the front end matches, but I think that many of us do not have matching rears.

That depends on a lot, like how much they will be used, what your fronts are, what the rest of your equipment is etc.
For example if you had a HTIB that was used more for music then movies then not very. While if you had $100,000 HT system with hand picked synergistic components which will only be used for movies and multi-channel music...very.
Personally I tried using different brand rears and surrounds and didn't like it. The rear soundstage was there but it didn't really blend together, like I could hear the fronts then I could hear the surrounds and the rears.
Going with the same brand things were seamless, one big soundstage as opposed to 3 smaller ones. Effects sounded much more realistic and it was much more enveloping. Definitely a big step up.
All depends on your system and your needs though. -
Just purchased a pair of Rti10s and Csi5 that should arrive tomorrow or tuesday they will be powered by a Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi, was wondering if Rti4 was necessary or if existing Klipsch RB5 would work well. Useage will be 60/40 movie music. Thanks Jerry

I think it's fairly important. When that car races from the front of the living room to the rear - or vice versa- you want it to sound like the same car from speaker to speaker.Sharp Elite 70

It would also depend on how similar/dissimilar they are as to how noticeable it would be. However, the RTi4's are very inexpensive so you could easily sell your Klipsch's and get the 4's if it's something that you notice and/or bothers you.
