DVDO Iscan HD that was factory upgraded to the HD+.

Original remote, user manual, and box included.

Just upgraded my HT system, so I'm not using it any more; no problems with the unit at all.

These seem to be selling on the Bay for between $500 and $700. I'll sell mine for $499 shipped in CONUS.

Payment via PayPal (split PayPal fees; shipped to confirmed PayPal addresses ONLY) or USPS money order.

Yell if you have any questions.

Thanks for looking!

It's an external video scaling processor. It will take composite, s-video, component, and DVI video signals in 480i, 480p, and 720p, and upscale them to 1080i, as well as allow you to tweak 1080i sources.

It's similar to what an upconverting DVD player would do, but:

    1. It's better quality than most upconverting DVD players (the new Reon scalers in the Toshiba XA2 HD-DVD player and the Samsung BDP1200 Blu-Ray player are probably better).

    2. Unlike an upconverting DVD player, this will work on *any* video source.

    3. MUCH more tweakability than any upconverting DVD player would provide.

You can zoom, pan, correct overscan (or more accurately, set the amount of overscan), set brightness, gamma, contrast, hue, etc. settings.

If' you've ever had conflict issues with a display or projecter and a video source with respect to how 4:3 material is displayed, or with nonanamorphic DVDs, this takes care of it.

It's kind of hard to describe, but it's almost like an HTPC-in-a-box with respect to the video tweaking you can do.

Rather than me twaddle on (and possibly incorrectly), it's probably better to read the information page at DVDO.

I have no idea. I would think that an HTPC would be used instead of an external processor rather than in conjunction with. I've always just assumed that with an HTPC you have full control over scaling, tweaking, etc...

(I've never used an HTPC personally.)

Well, with my HTPC you can do all the things mentioned in the specs for the IScan HD+, but I would like to run the HTPC's output into an external video processor and then feed that into the projector.

So - will it process an HDMI 1.1 or RGBHV/RGB+H/V signal? Can't seem to find out by searching online.

Can't speak to the RGB signals, but as far as HDMI, I connected my Toshiba HD-A1 to it using an HDMI->DVI cable. The Iscan only has a DVI input, not HDMI.

Edit: It will only pass-through RGBHV, not process it. From the link I provided above:

"The VGA HD-15 input connector is for analog pass-through only - i.e., the iScan HD+ won't scale a signal from that input. It accepts computer video, standard definition progressive signals (480p/576p) and high definition signals (720p/1080i)."

How about $479 and you keep the Oppo? ;)

Seriously, I appreciate the interest, but I have no desire to do any trades.

For HD-DVD and DVD playback I have a Toshiba HD-XA2. For Blu-Ray I have a PS3. For Non-region-1 DVD and PAL DVDs I have an Oppo OPDV971H. At this juncture I need nothing else...

Edit: I see you changed your post... playing yanky my wanky, eh? :D
