My Wife thinks I'm nuts - Maybe I am

So I bought a leather dedicated listening recliner and had the wife help me "calibrate" it. I needed help holding the tape measure to the center of the speakers so I could measure the distance to the chair so that both speakers would be the exact distance from by head. Other than a few eye rolls while I had her go back and forth between each speaker 10 or 20 times she was ok with that. But when I broke out my laser level to make sure everything was toed in correctly and exactly on center she started laughing hysterically. Doesn't everybody tweak their primary listening spot?

You're not nuts. Anal perhaps, but not nuts.

BTW -- toe-in doesn't have to be exact for each speaker. Based on your room layout, you may determine that one speaker should be toed in (or out) more than the other, especially if one speaker is closer to a side wall than the other.

Next time just drop me a PM and and my wife and I'll come over. She'll do the tape measure holding, while I do the listening. Your not nuts, your wife just doesn't understand your compulsion. I got luck with mine.

I appreciate all the support, I'm just glad my wife doesn't give a hoot about audio or video fidelity because I'd hate to have to share the sweet spot.

I'm just lucky she hasn't commented on the the recliner being placed in the middle of the room!

The nuts part of doing it is with the wife watching you.

Does she actually let you leave the chair and ottoman sitting in the middle of the living room??? Man, if she's cool with that, she's a definite keeper!

Just ask her to move something a 1/4" or 5 degrees and see how she responds.

My wife looked at your living room and her comment was.... "one chair in the center in front of the TV.... How Rude".

    Go figure.

My wife is pretty good with letting me do what I want in the music room. However, I made it known to her that I'm not doing the high end HT in the music room, that I've decided to sell off the living room HT stuff and use the high end stuff in the living room.

Yeah right!!! She just giggled and walked away. I mentioned a leather easy chair in the sweet spot and she came out swinging!!!

I must admit it distracts from the look of the room, but luckily this is my basement man cave so .... eff the WAF! I sat on a glorified lawn chair that I could move off to the side for way too long.

I basically traded the rest of the house for the "Man Room". I can do whatever I want in there as long as she can do what she wants in the rest of the house. Now all have to do is install a bathroom and a fridge in the man room and we are set.

    Those chairs are so sweet.

They sell them at one of the super megabuck hifi shops in town and every time I sit in one I begin to ponder cutting half the legs off my desk so I can use one, but for now an executive high-back chair made for "big and tall" (I am 135lbs, haha) does me just fine.

Anyway, the chair you got is probably the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. Happy Listening! (and the wife may think you are crazy, but maybe she would think you are less so if you had a second chair next to yours... and while overwhelmed with your gesture, she won't notice that you still have your chair dead center in the sweet spot... hehe)

Your wife wasn't being honest with and is trying to sabotage your efforts as the chair is not center.

    She's so sick...what is wrong with her?:D

My wife said "that's a mans room". She doesn't like the "stuff" hanging on the wall nor the "thing" in the corner with the pipe going through the wall. Me, I like it!
