More VMPS trial and tribulations...

Alright - let me go through the list of my VMPS experience...

Experience 1)
The base, they sent me the wrong base the first time - not a big deal. Then a USED base the second time --- pissed. The third time, the base is perfect - it is screwed to a plywood palette of sorts and arrives perfectly. Bravo.

Experience 2)
The PR is bottoming in scenes in my room at volumes that should not even PHASE this sub. I email VMPS. They say there is alterations they can do to beef up the PR to prevent this. Again - something that sounds like a KNOWN problem. They want me to send my PR in and then they will alter it. Ha, what? They sent me a new PR -- it can not be bottomed they say. I havnt installed it -- but so far looks good.

Experience 3)
While talking about the PR - I ask about the power handling. They say this sub can do 1000 watts continuous at 4 ohms. My amp does 1400 watts at 4 ohms continuous. He says there is a better 15" woofer available. Now the question remains can this 15" woofer work with the 12" - or is this the Very Solid Sub that just came out. I will know shortly.

I'm tickled to death with this VMPS sub - its a beast in every way and sounds amazing. But there is alot of things I learned about this company. They have alot of things you can do to products that they will do for FREE. And don't. Brian is going to drive me crazy.

But thats fine, I have a -list- I am making for the 2nd Larger Sub I order to have already done to it, because I am awesome like that.

watching VMPS' threads at Audio Circle, you would remove both the 15 and 12, they ship you the new 15" woofer and a blank to cover the 12" hole.

"Brian is going to drive me crazy." ditto

Have a great love for the products, but they have a LOT to learn on how to handle customers, upgrades, changes in design.

    Ah today ---

I am informed there is an even BETTER 15" woofer for my subwoofer that can work with the 12" driver.

W-T-F... I ASKED BRIAN "IS THIS THE BEST 15" WOOFER AVAILABLE" Brian says "YES!"

    GRRRRRRRRRRRR

Brian is really starting to irritate me...

There is a better woofer that moves 16mm MORE linear and handles like 300 more watts of power than mine. I am going to kick him in the nuts if I meet him... lol

Dude, dump that damn thing and get back to SVS! I have ZERO problems with my PC-Ultra and it thumps the F*** out of the house! Spend more time listening than repairing!

Nah - the VMPS has alot more tone than the Ultra series (atleast the old ones) --- they are about equal in speed... the VMPS may be a lil faster by a smidge since the drivers move half as much. But overall as far as output and so forth - they are neck and neck...

I've been very impressed with the Larger... I just havn't calibrated it for HT since I dont have a HT preamp... kind of hard to get top notch performance out of it that way...

    YMMV

I may pick up a SVS for HT though
